Kwarans Lambast NLC President For Praising Gov Abdulrahman Over Workers’ Welfare

In a video that has gone viral on  facebook page, the Chairman of the Kwara State Chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Olayinka Muritala, commended Governor AbdulRazaq for his efforts in improving workers’ welfare. Muritala praised the prompt payment of salaries and the clearing of backlogs of promotions, stating that this earned the governor the title of a “labour-friendly Governor.”

However, netizens have expressed skepticism over the chairman’s statement, suggesting that he may have been bribed or promised certain benefits by the state government. One commenter questioned why the chairman failed to declare a warning strike for the unpaid stipends being given to the workers as palliative. Another criticized the governor, stating that prompt payment of salaries should not be considered an achievement as it is a basic requirement.

Netizens also demanded more from the government, urging Governor AbdulRazaq to utilize the state’s resources to bring about meaningful development. While acknowledging the visible infrastructural developments, some expressed concerns about the cost and quality of the projects. Additionally, one commenter drew attention to the pressing need for improvements to the road leading to the Oko-Oba Community, emphasizing the community’s recent growth and lack of essential facilities.

The NLC chairman’s praise for Governor AbdulRazaq’s actions has triggered a wave of criticism and calls for genuine work ethics and realistic development in the state. Netizens appear dissatisfied with the current state of affairs and have expressed their disappointment in the governor’s performance, describing him as “the most worsening governor in the history of KWARA STATE.”
